Tolkien Week – September 21 – 27, 2014

September 22nd  is a grand day and holds much meaning for Tolkien fans around the world. Both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins share their birthdays on the 22, and as such, it is the day of Bilbo’s 111th Long Awaited Party found inThe Lord of the Rings.

With many events falling on one day, Hobbit Day was begun and first observed back in 1978, and is now widely celebrated throughout the Tolkien fandom. Parties are thrown, food is eaten, and most of all, the life and work of J. R. R. Tolkien is remembered and cherished.
