Conventions and Events

During the last couple of months I have visited some wonderful events both here and abroad.
On the 23 of September I made my way to Oxford to attend the Tolkien Society’s three day Oxonmoot. This was a great weekend with a variety of events enjoyed by the members in attendance. Talks and presentations were both informative and entertaining. Over the weekend I met old friends whom I haven’t seen for about twelve months and spent a lot of time catching up to all the Tolkien news from various parts of Europe. On the Sunday we all visited Tolkien’s grave in Oxford where I read a verse from one of my poems.Graveside

October 8 found me in Leiden, Netherlands to participate as Master of Ceremonies for The Tolkien Shop’s 25th Anniversary. The Shop’s owner, Rene, also invited me to unveil his latest van which is covered with Hobbit related pictures. It is an awesome vehicle. I met many Tolkien fans and collectors at the event and have created new frienships with some wonderful people.Shop

The next major event was RingCon at the Maratimi Hotel in Bonn, Germany (14-16 October). Another awesome weekend surrounded by fans of the world of Fantasy dressed in some of the most fantastic costumes you will ever see. At RingCon I didn’t present anything in an official capacity but did do a few impromptu performances by request. I had a very enjoyable time amd would like to return next year if possible.Gandalfw

November 4; A visit to Supanova here in Brisbane had me once again lost in a sea of wonderful costumes. The weekend Convention is a great outing and experience. Thousands of fans were decked out as their favourite characters or came to meet there favourite Sci Fi/Fantasy Stars. On the weekend I met and chatted to a very obliging Billy Boyd who played Pippin in the LotR Trilogy. Will I return next year? I think so.witchking

I hope to get pictures loaded on this website soon, but in the meantime visit Hobbits, the Smallest of people on facebook and open the related albums to view photos from these events and more.

Meanwhile enjoy this video of the costumes of RingCon.
