An Evening in Middle-earth

October 12 Morningside RSL, 6:00 p.m.

This unique and entertaining night celebrates the works of author J.R.R. Tolkien and all profit goes to:-

Our goal is to offer fun, music, prizes, food, dancing, a unique night, all in support of children in care.



  • The Arrival of Guests, and be prepared to be entertained as you arrive.
  • There will be nibbles to enjoy during the Official Welcome by our wonderfully talented and fun MC.
  • Guest singers Ellin and Sarah will sing their own themed songs.
  • You will also be entertained by Sweet Fusion’s songs, including: “May it Be”; “Into the West” and “Misty Mountains Cold”.
  • Dinner will be accessed by knowing the solutions to some interesting trivia.
  • Our MC will present A Special Year in review, followed by a very entertaining short segment.
  • There will be a costume parade with special awards handed out.
  • The draw of our special door prize, spot prizes, raffles and special auctions.
  • A humorous interlude.
  • Dessert and The Dragon Cake.
  • During and after dessert you will be expected to put on your DANCING SHOES!  Our DJ will play music to keep you dancing late into the night.
  • The night will be hosted by our wonderfully talented and fun MC, Adrian Pon. 

This night is going to be fabulous so come along and join the fun!

Wellington Rover Tours have donated a full day tour for two people, of Wellington’s LOTR locations, at a value of nz$380. This prize tour includes ‘Window into Workshop’ exhibition; which is a 45 minute guided tour of the inner working of the Weta Studios.

Stansborough Limited Wellington, New Zealand, has donated a Gandalf Magical Silver Scarf, an exact replica as seen in The Hobbit Movie.

  • A day 133 Lord of the Rings Movie vest in mint condition. This is the famous vest given to members of the cast and crew of the Lord of the Rings film series during shooting, on Day 133 of the primary shooting schedule.
  • An official The Hobbit “200 days to go” long sleeve black T-shirt, supplied to the crew at the end of filming of block one.

Ian Brodie is donating three signed copies of his world acclaimed book “The Lord of the Rings Location Guide Book”.

Michael Muhling has donated three signed copies of his new book, “The Real Middle-earth”.
